Clinical Lead Teina - Youth Mental Health

About the role
ADL's Clinical Lead Teina (2IC) has a key role in supporting the delivery of clinical leadership across ADL. Reporting to and working closely with the Clinical Lead, and collaborating with other leaders, the Clinical Lead Teina will:
- Manage specific service delivery contracts, including Community Support Work (South Canterbury), Transition to Adulthood (Central Lakes), and Te Aro Hou (all regions)
- Oversee and contribute to strategic projects
- Develop and review clinical systems and documentation
- Lead ADL's workforce development programme
- Provide leadership support to Service Leaders.
The Clinical Lead Teina will also carry a small clinical caseload delivering therapeutic services to young people, including the Thrive Te Pae Ora service, designed to meet the needs of rangatahi/young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health issues, in this role they will:
- Provide therapeutic counselling for young people at risk young people aged 12 - 24 years.
- Maintain professional registration
- Utilise best practice methods in all clinical practice, and have working knowledge of the following modalities: MI, CBT, ACT, Solution Focused Brief Therapy
- Provide a service that reflects the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi
- Respect the diverse ethnic and cultural heritage of New Zealand and utilise culturally appropriate counselling practices
- Work with co-existing mental health and addiction issues as appropriate.
This is a permanent role based in Dunedin, with some travel required to other ADL offices (Invercargill, Cromwell, Timaru).

Skills and experience
- Current full NZ professional registration (i.e. Occupational Therapist, Psychologist, Social Worker, Counsellor (DAPAANZ or NZAC), Nurse Therapist)
- Six plus years of clinical experience in the Mental Health and /or Addictions field
- Experience in a management and/or leadership role
- Significant knowledge of delivering brief interventions to a variety of individuals
- Significant experience in motivational interviewing, ACT/ CBT, solution-focused, whānau & cultural therapies.
- Experience in Treaty and Equity responsiveness
- Training in cross-cultural practice
- Committed to a collaborative approach and able to adapt to a high level of synergy amongst different team members and teams in the organisation
- Effectively plan and organise a project, allocating time in a manner which achieves priorities and allows for contingencies
- Full drivers license.
