Job Description:
The Research Fellow is rostered to half a week of protected research time and half a week rostered to clinical duties at the level of a Non-SET General Surgical Registrar.
The expectation is that the Research Fellow remains in the job for a minimum of one year and completes a Master of Health Science supervised by Associate Professor Christopher Harmston. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn from an experienced research department and design, deliver, publish, and present your own research. This job has a proven track record with the two previous Research Fellow's completing a Master of Health Science through the University of Auckland. Each prior Fellow has performed a multi-centre national prospective study (RURAL and RiBZ) with presentations and publications at a national and international level. Brodie Elliot received the Young Investigator Award at the 2020 Australasian Surgical Research Society conference and has been granted the opportunity to present his work at the 2022 USA Academic Surgical Congress.
As a General Surgical Registrar you will work alongside skilled and supportive general surgical, colorectal, upper GI, breast and oncoplastic, melanoma, endocrine and laparoscopic surgeons and have the opportunity to learn and undertake endoscopy and minor procedure plastics and skin lesion removals.
