About the Role:
Whangarei CATT - ED focus is a specialist team that provides a service for people presenting to the Emergency Department who are experiencing mental health issues and are considered a risk to themselves or others.
We invite applications from an experienced, registered Mental Health Clinician and Educator who is also a ealthDuly Authorised Officer (or willing to work towards) to join us in an exciting role that is based in the Whangarei Emergency Department.
The Registered Health Clinician / Duly Authorised officer portion of the role (0.75 FTE) will initiate a transformational change process to establish and implement Mental Health and Addictions related treatment and interventions within the Whangarei Emergency Department.
The Educator portion of the role (0.25 FTE) will provide Mental health education to maximise health care delivery within the Emergency Department setting. This involves training, coaching, mentoring and active demonstration of best practice approaches to facilitate ED staff to further improve their skills and knowledge in identifying a range of mental health and addiction needs. This role takes a senior level of responsibility for innovating and cooperatively facilitating measurable outcomes in a complex emergency environment.
About you:
Our ideal candidate will be a registered professional (i.e. nurse, social worker, psychologist) who has experience working with tāngata whaiora and their whānau living with the effects of mental illness in our community and a proven ability to communicate well with tāngata whaiora, their whānau and colleagues, and engage Māori in making choices that enhance their wellbeing.
They will also:
- Have at least five years' post graduation experience and an annual practising certificate relevant to main qualification
- Be a Duly Authorised Officer (or willing to work towards obtaining)
- Acute mental health experience
- Have an understanding of and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the practice of cultural safety and responsiveness in a health care setting
- Have a full drivers licence and the ability to travel throughout Northland
- Clinical teaching experience
