The Mental Health & Addiction Services at Te Whatu Ora, Te Tai Tokerau are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Mid/Far North teams to provide an effective service to the Bay of Islands, Hokianga and Kaitaia community.
Te Whatu Ora, Te Tai Tokerau provides a specialist clinical mental health and addiction service to the Northland region, from north of Wellsford to Cape Reinga serving a growing population of around 190000. These services are designed to cater for people with significant mental illness and/or addiction that is beyond the scope of primary care services.
Here is the opportunity to live and practice in a more rural area of Northland, ideally suiting someone with strong interest in rural psychiatry and interested in a country farm or beach lifestyle. This position also involves both conducting community clinics, and clinical input into our Sub-Acute Unit.

To be considered you must have or be eligible for specialist registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) in either a vocational or locum tenens – special purpose Psychiatry scope of practice. FRANZCP and / or post graduate qualifications, however happy to hear from those near completion of their studies. If you are currently overseas / not yet registered, we can assist you with the application process to obtain MCNZ registration. Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand is also an Approved Accredited Employer by New Zealand Immigration.
