Tumanako and He Manu Pae, Mental Health & Addiction Services (2.0 FTE, Permanent)

 

Right now, we are looking for two Kaitakawaenga to join our supportive Mental Health and Addiction acute in-patient services multidisciplinary team in Whangārei.

 

Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand Te Tai Tokerau is committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and holds stewardship for equitable health outcomes for Māori as Tāngata Whenua as the highest priority.

 

About the Role

These roles are full time, working 10-12 hour shifts per week on a roster including nights and weekends and will work collaboratively between Tumanako (in-patient unit) and He Manu Pae (sub-acute unit). You will work closely with tāngata whaiora and their whānau to ensure they are well cared for, and are aware of choices, services and resources.

 

Tumanako is a 29 bed purpose built unit at Whangarei Hospital that cares for adults over the age of 18 who live in the Northland area. He Manu Pae is a 6 bed sub-acute unit based in a community setting. At both units we provide a full range of mental health and alcohol and drug services including assessment, group therapy, family/whānau and individual interventions.

 

About You

Our ideal candidate will have experience working in Te Ao Māori and Te Ao Pakeha, working alongside tāngata whaiora and their whānau living with the effects of mental illness and addictions in our community.

 

You will have the ability to communicate and advocate for tāngata whaiora and their whānau, collaborate effectively with other members of the team, and engage Māori in making choices that enhance their wellbeing.

 

A commitment to improving health outcomes for Māori, cultural safety, care quality, and providing cultural recommendations to improve well-being is desired.

 

The successful applicant will work alongside other Kai Mahi Māori within a supportive team environment of health professionals that is committed to delivering an excellent clinical and cultural service that reflects the needs of our tāngata whaiora and their whānau.
