Physiotherapist - OPAL

Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua MidCentral Careers Logo

MidCentral requires ALL its employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (including the first booster vaccination). We will not accept applications that do not meet this criteria.

MidCentral actively seeks Māori into our workforce to reflect the community we serve.

MidCentral is looking for an experienced physiotherapist to work in the Older Person Assessment Liaison (OPAL) Unit. This position is permanent, full time and will be based at the Palmerston North Hospital.

The OPAL Unit is an inpatient ward for older persons with frailty. Its purpose is to assess and treat issues that are causing frailty, to return people to their homes as soon as possible and put plans in place to continue their improvements in health once home. In this role you will be working in a transdisciplinary team consisting of geriatricians, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, social workers, NASC, nurses and allied health assistants. This unit will link with the OPAL community team.

We are looking for a physiotherapist who enjoys teamwork, has good time management, has leadership skills, is flexible, can adapt to change easily and is an excellent communicator both written and oral.

Two years experience is preferable but not essential. A current APC is however essential.
