Eating Disorder Services – Mental Health & Addictions Services – Te Matapuna o te Ora

 

Te Whatu Ora, Health New Zealand Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua MidCentral (MidCentral) provides healthcare services to over 180,000 people across the Manawatū, Horowhenua and Tararua regions. With a large hospital campus at Palmerston North, it also provides key health care and support services to neighbouring communities.

MidCentral operates an integrated model of clinical service delivery. Te Uru Ruahī (Mental Health & Addictions services) is responsible for the commissioning and delivery of MH&A services across the rohe.  The new model of care Te Mātāpuna o te Ora, focuses on an integrated treatment approach for those who would benefit from mental health and addiction services.

 

Our new eating disorder service is focused on developing talking therapies and related interventions across our three districts and includes an Interdisciplinary Team approach.  If you have a focus on effective evidence-based interventions, please consider applying to this newly designed team with Child Adolescent and Family services as well as our Adult teams. 

 

As part of the co-ordinated system of care for those individuals with a suspected or confirmed eating disorder in our adult specialist services, we are looking at appointing the following:

  • Fulltime (1.0 FTE, 40 hours a week) Eating Disorder Clinician Adult Services (Position could be held by Nursing, Psychology, Social Work or Occupational Therapy
  • Part time (0.5 FTE, 20 hours a week) Eating Disorder Clinician Adult Services (Position could be held by Nursing, Psychology, Social Work or Occupational Therapy
  • Fulltime Psychologist, (0.5 FTE Adult Services, 0.5 FTE Child Adolescent and Family Mental Health Service, 40 hours a week). A key function of this role is to support the transition from CAFS to adult services when needed.

 We will also be appointing a fulltime (1.0 FTE) Dietitian and 0.2 FTE dedicated Psychiatrist role.

 

These roles will sit in the Manawatu Locality (Palmerston North and Feilding catchment area) but may also provide some services across the rohe. The eating disorder services will be delivered in line with national and international evidence based best practice principles.
