About the Role
Te Uru Ruahī, Mental Health & Addiction Services (MHAS) is building a strong team of psychiatrists who are keen to make a difference in our community and bring their specialist skills to Te Whatu Ora Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua (MidCentral). Does that sound like you?
Mental Health & Addiction Servicesis responsible for the commissioning and delivery of primary, specialist, and community mental health & addiction services across a diverse urban and rural population of 186,000.
We provide treatment for and connection to recovery-orientated services for individuals experiencing mental illness or addiction issues. Services are delivered across the continuum of lifespan, both regionally and locally, and include specialist community MH&A teams, kaupapa (Māori), Child Adolescent Mental Health Services, inpatient services, crisis response, acute alternatives, specialist primary mental health service, consultation-liaison MH, and specially designed residential programmes.
Mental Health & Addiction Serviceshas embarked on a programme of transformational change for adult and crisis services, which sees a fundamental shift in the way services are delivered. Services are moving towards a wellness and recovery-focused approach in our community that prioritises access, choice, and care closer to home. The change sees significant investment into digital technologies and new infrastructure including the construction of a new “greenfield” state-of-the-art acute inpatient unit.
