Occupational Therapist - Kaiwhakaora Ngangahau

Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua MidCentral (MidCentral) is part of Te Whatu Ora, Health New Zealand and provides healthcare services to over 180,000 people across the Manawatū, Horowhenua and Tararua regions. With a large hospital campus in Palmerston North, it also provides key health care and support services to neighbouring communities.
The Opportunity
Te Uru Rauhi Mental Health and Addiction Services have an exciting opportunity to employ an Occupational Therapist/Kaiwhakaora Ngangahau to be part of the Mental Health New Entry to Specialist Practice (NESP) programme for 2024.
If you have a passion for working and partnering with whānau and you are interested in being able to provide a whānau ora- wellness and recovery focused approach that encourages interconnectedness both socially, spiritually, physically and environmentally, and encompasses the aspirations to achieve ‘WAIORA' flourishing individuals, whānau, and communities, we welcome your application.
This new service model delivery approach will support the achievement of whānau whaiora.
As a NESP Occupational Therapist/Kaiwhakaora Ngangahau you will be part of a team who will be pivotal in ensuring the delivery of safe, efficient, and comprehensive contemporary high quality, person and whānau centred services.
The successful candidate will:
- Have a passion for working with whānau and seeing them achieve their aspirations and flourish
- Be a new graduate with an interest in mental health (or therapist's new to mental health)
- Be employed in our Mental Health Service 36 hours per week for 12 months
- Complete the Postgraduate Certificate in Health Science (Mental Health) through Auckland University of Technology
Funding for this study is through Te Pou and the successful applicant must secure a funded position to be offered employment. This is an amazing professional development opportunity and only available to NZ residents!
