Head and Neck Surgeon
Are you an Otorhinolaryngologist looking for a new opportunity?
Te Pae Hauora o Ruahine o Tararua | MidCentral (previously MidCentral District Health Board) wishes to recruit an Otorhinolaryngologist for a full time (1 FTE), permanent position.
The ideal applicant will have general Otorhinolaryngology experience with a subspecialist interest in Head and Neck Surgery. The applicants will support the remaining consultant team who currently provide subspecialty Otological and Head and Neck surgery.
This position is based at Palmerston North Hospital, a 350 bed hospital in the city of Palmerston North, Manawatu, a city in the Lower North Island of New Zealand. Palmerston North Hospital is a secondary hospital and offers most medical and surgical specialities with the exception of Cardiothoracic, Plastic and Neurosurgery. The hospital serves a local population of 186,000 but is the base for a regional head and neck oncology service which has responsibility for a population of 550,000 and draws patients from Whanganui, Taranaki, and Hawke's Bay.
The collegial relationships between departments are strong and consultation with other specialist is easy, either formally with multidisciplinary meetings or informally as required. There is an active postgraduate medical society and there are excellent clinical library facilities. The Otorhinolaryngology department currently participates in fortnightly radiology and head and neck MDT meetings and monthly thyroid MDT and pathology meetings. The department hosts a monthly half day regional CDP meeting with otorhinolaryngologists attending from Whanganui, Taranaki and Hawke's Bay.

To be eligible for this position you must be registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand and have a specialist qualification in otolaryngology that is recognised by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (Otolaryngology/Head and Neck) as suitable for Vocational Registration in New Zealand.
