Child, Adolescent and Family Psychiatrist

Are you a Psychiatrist with specialist training in Child, Adolescent and Family care? Are you looking for a new opportunity? If so this could be the position for you. You would be joining our established team of psychiatrists, a consultant behavioural paediatrician, registrars, nursing team and allied health colleagues who together provide outpatient Child, Adolescent and Family mental health services to the MidCentral region.
MidCentral's mental health service has embarked on a significant redevelopment programme in the past several years including the introducion of a new leadership structure which has lead further development of an integrated range of well-connected services along with our NGO partners in our community.
We provide comprehensive community-based mental health services at including:
• Extended hours crisis intervention service
• Community-based mental health care
• Adult Acute inpatient services (including intensive mental health care) Day activity/rehabilitation programmes
• General hospital liaison psychiatry
• Outreach clinics
• Child, adolescent and family mental health services
• Old Age Psychiatry services
• Alcohol and drug services
• Specialist Maori mental health services (Oranga Hinengaro)
• Early intervention services
• Intensive community rehabilitation services.
We have a commitment to continuing medical education and professional development and our peer review group is enrolled with the maintenance of professional standards programme of the Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. We are recognised by the College for registrar training. MidCentral District Health Board employs more than 2500 staff at Manawatu, Palmerston North, Tararua and Horowhenua and Otaki districts. Palmerston North Hospital is a 350 bed secondary hospital, which services an urban population of 80,000 and a total population catchment of 186,000. In addition, the hospital is a teaching hospital, and is associated with both Auckland and Otago medical schools.
Palmerston North is a major university city and is at the hub of key routes to the central North Island ski fields, and river adventures. Wellington the capital city, is only a two hour journey by road, as are the wine growing regions of Hawke's Bay and Wairarapa.
