Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
We are seeking an experienced, energetic, efficient and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our inpatient Rehabilitation MDT. The team is part of the wider Allied Health Inpatient team at Kenepuru Community Hospital. This ward focuses on specialist rehabilitation with the majority of patients being transferred from Wellington Hospital. The OT in this role will also provide cover on the Surgical Ward when required.
The emphasis of this role is on timely and high quality Occupational Therapy input, as part of a MDT approach to delivery of care. The ability to assess and contribute to decision making and complex discharge planning as part of a team, is crucial for this role. This position provides mentorship to rotational Occupational Therapists, students and delegates work to Allied Health Assistants.
Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team
The inpatient rehabilitation MDT is a close-knit team of Allied Health, nursing and medical colleagues, based at Kenepuru Hospital. It - s an exciting time for the team as they have recently commenced a programme of improvement work on the ward. Guided by the Clinical Lead for Rehabilitation, some of the projects under this include:
- Reviewing models of care
- Reviewing and improving group work
- A focus on patient-centred goal setting
- Using a whakawhanaungatanga approach to patient and whanau hui
- Improving links with our community rehabilitation teams
Whilst based on the rehabilitation ward, this role also sits within the wider Kenepuru Inpatient Allied Health team which consists of over 35 Allied Health staff from six different professions. We work together closely to provide a service of high standard to patients and their families and whanau. We are a very supportive team who provide training and learning opportunities, supervision, encourage professional development and have fun and laughter along the way.
Moū - About you
You will be an NZ Registered Occupational Therapist with a current APC who has recent experience in rehabilitation (ideally in the inpatient setting). You will have a clear understanding of the health needs of our Māori and Pacific communities and a drive to reduce inequities and improve health outcomes.
As this role requires home visits, you will have a current drivers licence.
