Consultant Psychiatrist - Porirua Community Mental Health Team

Contract: Permanent, 0.8 FTE (there may be other part-time roles available that can be combined to make full time employment)

Come and join our dynamic multidisciplinary Porirua Community Mental Health Team (PCMHT). You will be responsible for ensuring that all clinical steps necessary are taken to assist clients to achieve optimal health, wellbeing and safety through the provision of appropriate assessment, intervention and education. Our client group is diverse and we cover a broad-spectrum both socioeconomically and culturally.
You will be working with an extremely supportive and experienced team who strive to provide high quality care to clients that may require access to mental health and addiction services. The team consist of consultant psychiatrists, registrars, psychologist, nurse, social workers, occupational therapists and admin staff. We offer an exciting work environment and support with on-going professional development. The PCMHT is based in the centre of Porirua with the best views of Porirua Harbour and surrounding area.
The consultant psychiatrist is responsible for ensuring that all clinical steps necessary are taken to assist clients to achieve optimal health, wellbeing and safety through the provision of appropriate assessment, intervention and education. The consultant psychiatrist, as well as providing high quality diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of clients, is responsible for supporting clinical development of this service.
Moū ' About you
- Vocationally registered in Psychiatry with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
- FRANZCP or equivalent qualification and be able to register for vocational registration with the MCNZ
- Able to provide consistently high standards of medical care
- Relevant experience and training

Emphasis is placed on leadership, teamwork, the wider determinants of health and the elimination of health inequities with a particular focus on Māori and Pacific Peoples health and wellbeing.
Capital,Coast and Hutt Valley district is located centrally in Wellington and has over 6,000 full-time equivalent staff, making us one of the major employers in the Wellington region. We operate three hospitals ' Wellington Regional Hospital in Newtown, Hutt Valley Hospital and Kenepuru Hospital in Porirua ' as well as the Kāpiti Health Centre at Paraparaumu.
The Mental Health, Addiction and Intellectual Disability Service (MHAIDS) spans three DHBs - Wairarapa, Hutt Valley and Capital and Coast DHB's and includes local, regional, and national services. The local MHAIDS services are provided from multiple sites within the 3DHB sub-region ' greater Wellington, Hutt Valley and Wairarapa. Te Korowai Whariki services include regional forensic and rehabilitation services covering the Central region while the intellectual disability services extend the length and breadth of the country from six bases located in Whangarei, Auckland, Cambridge, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin.
