Police Liaison Peer Support Worker

Includes weekend and shift work (most likely morning and afternoon shifts)
We are offering an exciting opportunity for Community Support Workers to join our Police Liaison Service based at the Hasting’s Police Station.
Our Service is committed to finding creative ways of providing timely, locally delivered, high quality assessments and effective interventions that maximise health of people affected by mental health and addiction issues. We are looking for an individual who is passionate, and committed to working with whaiora, Police, Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand, Te Matau a Māui, Hawke’s Bay services and wider community services in Hawke’s Bay.
In this role, you will provide support to people experiencing a mental health or addiction crisis or those who facing distress of some sort. In order to provide that support, you should be someone who has been in a similar situation yourself and/or be whanau of those with lived experience of mental health and/or addiction issues.
You will work together with our clinical and other non-clinical mental health and addictions staff, cultural support staff and other community support services to ensure patients are getting better health outcomes.
Whilst experience as a support worker is preferable, we encourage applicants with community experience in other roles, especially with a whanau ora approach. You will need to be someone who is resilient, patient, emotionally strong and a great communicator.
You will need a full driver license for this position and ideally you will have a National Certificate in Mental Health Support Work Level 4 or be working towards it.
