There are exciting opportunities for Registrars to join Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand, Te Matau a Māui, Hawke’s Bay in full time positions.   Applications are invited for the position of Emergency Registrars for the 2022 training year commencing in August 2022.  The Emergency Department offer supportive working conditions and are committed to excellent teaching.

Hawke’s Bay Hospital is a 400 bed hospital providing acute and elective care for the Hawke's Bay region.  We have strengthening Primary and Community health services and an increasingly integrated approach to health and health care.

The Emergency Department is a mixed ED and has approximately 46,000 attendances a year, with a 30% admission rate.  The general patient acuity is high, with a significant amount of major trauma. You will see a wide variety of advanced pathology with the opportunity for hands-on procedural skills.  The Emergency Department runs 4 observation unit beds.  You will join a team of 12 Emergency Physicians, 1 Medical Officer, 15 Registrars, 8 House Officers and 3 Nurse Practitioners.  We are accredited for training with the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine and offer a regular and protected teaching programme.  There is the potential for suitably qualified advanced trainees to rotate through Paediatrics or Medicine, by application.

 

Ideal applicants should have at least 3 Years post graduate experience and ideally have completed at least a six month placement working in an Emergency Department at Registrar level.

Experience and Eligibility

 

Suitable for Registrars who will be PGY3 or above.

You will have eligibility for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Information on the process of application for this can be found on their website at http://www.mcnz.org.nz/

You will need to be a NZ or Australian citizen or resident, or have an appropriate visa to be eligible to live and work in NZ. The Immigration NZ website can be found at https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-zealand-visas
