ABI Rehabilitation requires a Counselling or Clinical psychologists with a particular interest in brain injury and experience in neurorehabilitation/concussion services to join our progressive interdisciplinary community team. We are a leader in the field of brain injury rehabilitation and an accredited provider of post-acute, residential, and community-based rehabilitation for clients with traumatic brain injury.
Our psychologists undertake clinical psychology sessions as part of our community-based rehab and assessment services. They typically help clients manage issues like depression, anxiety, adjustment, trauma, cognition and behaviour, as the clients return to everyday life. We link with our TBI inpatient facility to provide seamless transition for clients returning to work/school, family and daily life. We see our clients at home, workplace, school, and clinic-based settings. We have a strong client and family/whānau focus.
You would be part of a collegial and supportive group of psychologists, working alongside a highly skilled and professional group of rehabilitation medical specialists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech-language therapists. As an organization we are known for our multi and interdisciplinary teamwork. We are keen to recruit staff with both adult and/or child and family experience.
We have a growing team of in-house psychologists, and you would have the opportunity to contribute to rehabilitation service planning and promotion, ongoing training, development of fellow team members, and clinical research. We require a high standard of work and in return are committed to our staff and offer flexible working hours.
Successful applicants will have a postgraduate qualification in psychology and be registered with the New Zealand Psychologist Board with a “clinical” or “counselling” scope of practice. You should also have, as a minimum, formal post graduate qualification/papers in neuropsychology, one years' work experience in mental health (or a related field), and a special interest in working with clients with brain injury and their whānau. The ideal applicant would have at least 2 years post graduate work experience with clients with neurological disorders, and/or have worked under the ACC psychological services or concussion contract. However, for the right candidate, we could provide supervision and training for them to become an ACC Named Provider for Psychology and/or Neuropsychology contracts.
