The Opportunity
We are currently seeking an Associate Charge Nurse on a 0.8-0.9 FTE basis in our inpatient ward. This is a rare opportunity to take the next step in your nursing leadership career in a supportive environment with a fantastic team.
Our ideal candidate will have a background in General surgical post-op ward experience or similar, as this is a key portfolio within this role.
Working in a collaborative environment, and reporting to the Charge Nurse, this is a key senior role within the team, responsible for providing clinical and nursing leadership, and ensuring efficient management of resources to support an outstanding experience for our specialists, patients, and team members.
To be successful in this role:
- You will need a minimum of 5 years' relevant surgical nursing experience and sound knowledge of pre and post-op nursing care, ideally with experience in a New Zealand setting;
- You'll be comfortable supporting change and quality improvement initiatives;
- You must have the ability to provide ‘hands on' support and clinical leadership with the foresight to anticipate clinical needs, and you will be acutely aware of ensuring the highest standards of care are maintained;
- You will have a positive disposition where you demonstrate both energy and enthusiasm because you will understand that the key to success lies in our team operating in collaboration with one another (you'll be really comfortable setting an example and leading the team in a manner which enhances cooperation and teamwork);
- You will enjoy the full variety of caring for adult and paediatric patients with an ability to teach and share knowledge, empowering team members and regularly creating learning opportunities for others;
- You will be registered with NZNC, and you must have a current APC;
- You will be known for your clear and professional communication skills and your ability to remain calm and collected in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment;
- You will have flexibility to work varied start times and shifts to accommodate the needs of the role and the department.
