NURSE PRACTITIONER (0.8 - 1.0 FTE)

Hospice Whanganui Careers Logo

Here at Hospice Whanganui, we believe in supporting our patients to live the best life possible with the time they have left.  Through the provision of excellent palliative care, we support our patients and their whānau in achieving their goals and wishes as they journey through a life-limiting illness.

We also believe in the value of partnerships and working together with other providers of services in our community to deliver the best possible care to patients and their whānau.  Hospice Whanganui provides specialist palliative care to patients and their whānau and works in close partnership with a wide range of providers across the community to achieve this.

We believe in a strongly nurse led future for Palliative Care and the development of nurse practitioners is key to this future. As such, we have an exciting new opportunity available for someone to join our amazing team as Nurse Practitioner.

We believe that all people, regardless of who they are or where they live in our region, have the right to access excellent palliative care and support.  For this reason, most of our work is done in the community, in the homes of our patients and their whānau and in the places that they choose to be.  We also have a small, five-bed in-patient unit where some of our patients may be admitted for short-term stays from time to time if they so choose.

The core values of Hospice Whanganui are:

  • We do the right thing (Manaakitanga, Courage and Integrity)
  • We are stronger together (Kotahitanga, One Team, Partnership)
  • We always strive for the best (Excellence, Aspirational and Professional)

You are welcome to apply if:

a) You are a NP with palliative care experience

b) You are a NP in another field but feel the call of palliative care as a new horizon in your career

An appropriate induction will be offered to assist you in achieving your aspirations, should you be accepted for the position. You will be well supported in your career choice by an enthusiastic team who believe in a nurse led future.

Please contact Kim Eland, Director of Integrated Services, for an application form and position description: kime@hospicewhanganui.org.nz / 06 349 0080 ext. 235

To apply for this position, applicants must be a NZ Citizen or have Permanent Residency. We welcome and embrace diversity at Hospice Whanganui and invite applications from all interested candidates.
