Locum General Practitioner / Rural Hospital Doctor
Hauora Hokianga is a recognised Māori health provider offering a range of health and social services for the residents of Hokianga through our main hospital campus located in Rawene, and 10 clinics dispersed across the region.
We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent or long term Rural Medical Generalist to join our team of eight GPs working across our hospital and community clinics. We are looking for a Medical Practitioner with fellowship in General Practice or Rural Hospital Medicine. The ideal candidate will preferably have rural medicine experience and will be confident working across the primary and secondary care settings. Training is available for those looking to expand their practice in rural medicine.
Our service combines comprehensive primary care with an extension to inpatient management in our rural hospital which provides primary / secondary interface, and 24/7 emergency care including participation in the on-call roster as well as rehabilitation and palliative care. We have 11 acute beds, 12 continuing care long stay, maternity, X Ray unit, as well as outpatients and community allied health services. You will work an agreed number of sessions per week as well as participation in a 1 in 6 on call roster. We offer flexibility with the weekly number of sessions and can offer up to 10 sessions per week for those looking for a full workload.
Hauora Hokianga is also a recognised Rural Teaching Centre for the University of Auckland medical school undergraduate programmes. We are Cornerstone accredited and host GP and Rural Hospital Registrar placements.
