Clinical Nurse Specialist - Continence OPH&R, Burwood Hospital

- Permanent 32-hour per week (.8 FTE) position, can be worked over 4-5 days.
About the role
We are looking for a Clinical Nurse Specialist (Continence) to join our Older Persons Health and Rehabilitation Team. This role involves promoting clinical excellence, providing specialist care, offering nursing leadership, supporting education and workforce development, and collaborating with the team to drive improvement and innovation.
About You

should be passionate about promoting the health of older people and have
advanced knowledge in continence, urology, gerontology, and chronic conditions.
You will need to be self-directed, thrive in a multidisciplinary environment,
build strong relationships, and contribute to a positive workplace culture. With
expert knowledge in a specific area, you will expand nursing practice and
implement evidence-based care.
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing advanced nursing knowledge and health assessments on continence, urology, and gerontology in the care of older persons
- Role modelling expert, evidence-based clinical practice
- Networking nationally to identify and implement nursing innovations
- Identifying health/wellness initiatives for older populations
- Leading nursing interventions in client assessments and supporting patients and their whanau
- Facilitating interdisciplinary team meetings and providing support for complex clients with co-morbidities
- Participating in system change initiatives for improved health outcomes of older adults through evidence-based practice
- Contributing to the planning and delivery of community nursing education alongside fellow nurse specialists and leadership teams
- Interpreting and implementing research findings relevant to the health of older people
- Supporting a culture of evaluation and ongoing quality improvement in community nursing practice
Your skills will include:
Essential:
- Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand and hold a current practising certificate.
- At least five years - experience working with older adults in primary, community, or secondary settings.
- Experience in Continence and/or Urology.
- Hold or actively working towards a relevant Post-graduate Nursing Diploma (to be completed within an agreed timeframe), ideally including advanced health assessment.
- Ability to work autonomously with advanced nursing skills at a senior nurse or expert PDRP level.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to act as a clinical role model for nurses.
- Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using computers and related technology.
- A full, unrestricted driving licence.
Desirable:
- Experience in developing nursing standards and quality initiatives.
- Proven teaching, mentoring, and coaching abilities.
- Involvement in research that has contributed to changes in nursing practice.
