We proudly provide top quality healthcare to our population and you'll see a wide range of presentations and provide clinics both at our main clinic in Southland and Dunedin.
Mō te tūranga - About the role
Whilst you will work within a small multi-disciplinary team and are responsible for the psychiatric assessment and care of patients, you will be taking a leading role in maintaining and enhancing our Mental Health service. You'll also have the opportunity to take a break from home as you provide cover to our closest geographical secondary Hospital, Southland, providing assistance with their 1:5 on-call roster. Your responsibilities will include assessment and treatment while working collaboratively with the primary health sector consistent with the SDHB values. There is also a requirement to contribute to ongoing service improvement and workforce innovation. There are also opportunities to join in regular meetings linking with one of the base hospitals.
Mōu ake - About you
Fellowship with the RANZCP or the equivalent is essential and ideally you will already have a current registration with the NZ Medical Council.
As a Consultant Psychiatrist with previous older persons in either an inpatient or community setting, you will have a personal commitment to maintaining high standards of practice and an unequivocal dedication to working as part of a team. Your ability to provide clinical leadership and reliable medical input to the multi-disciplinary team is pivotal to the position. You will have a strong commitment to service user and family / whanau inclusion in service delivery and a focus on recovery. You will also have a sound understanding and commitment to biculturalism. You will have a demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development and providing training to students at all levels.

Utu whānui - Salary range
This role belongs to the ASMS Collective Agreement and falls between the Step 1 ($170,369) and Step 15 ($250,560 p.a prorata)
