About New Zealand Blood Service
New Zealand Blood and Organ Service (NZBS) is dedicated to saving lives. Every year, tens of thousands of generous people donate their time, blood and plasma to us for free. In addition to our vein to vein service in transfusion we also provide national services in organ transplantation, cellular therapies and tissue banking. We exist to ensure the efficient delivery of safe blood and tissue products on a time critical basis throughout New Zealand and through the generosity of our donors, we are able to help save lives.
Our shared values are at the heart of our organisation's culture and guide our behaviour each and every day. These values inspire, motivate us and drive us to provide the very best service to the New Zealand public.

About the role
Our Christchurch collection centres have an exciting opportunity to work in a unique part of the health sector, caring for people and making a huge difference to patient outcomes, outside of a DHB.
There is a lot more to being a Nurse at New Zealand Blood and Organ Service (NZBS) than just taking blood! Dealing with voluntary donors between various collection types and patients accessing our therapeutic services means that no two days are the same at NZBS.
You can say goodbye to night shifts! Collections staff work shifts Monday to Friday usually between 0700-2100, with the occasional Saturday. You will be based in our hub at Lester Lane with opportunities to work at our satellite site on Tuam Street.
To add variety to your role our Mobile Blood Drive locations are local and South Island wide. Trips requiring short stays away occur approximately once per month. Occasional statutory holiday duties may also be required. Flexibility is key!
Whether you are interested in developing clinical skills, leadership skills coordinating our collects, coaching and training skills as a workforce coach or gaining experience in therapeutic procedures such as collection of stem cells and plasma exchange procedures. NZBS has fantastic opportunities for everyone.
About you and the role(s)
As our donors regularly go out of their way to give up their time to donate blood, great customer service is key to ensuring they have an amazing donation experience that encourages their continued support. So, to be successful in this role you'll be a great communicator with good written and verbal skills, vital for reassuring the donor every step of the way.
We have a role available:
