He Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role
The role of the Kitchen Supervisor is to oversee the function and running of the kitchen that provides patient melas, sale of goods in the staff cafeteria and staff catering.
This is a full-time permanent role based at Whakatāne Hospital.
The Kitchen Supervisor is responsible to work as a leader to ensure support, guidance, and instruction to all other kitchen staff by providing a hygienic and orderly kitchen from which to produce a food service providing our customers' expectations and cultural reflections.
This role is to oversee the collection of statistical data to ensure quality assurance and ensure all aspects of food safety are adhered to including council compliance, order of all required resources needed and to collect trend care.
This role is also responsible for rosters and leave requests to always ensure an effectively staffed kitchen, to train and support new and existing staff as required and maintain Health and Safety protocols are always followed.

Ideally the preferred candidate will be able to demonstrate
- Appropriate food qualifications
- Proven leadership skills
- Food handling and preparation skills
- Good interpersonal and customer service skills
- Superior time management skills
- An ability to prioritise workloads to achieve targets, and
- A history of working in a kitchen or familiar environment
