He Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the Role
The Acute Stroke service provides specialist care for people presenting to Tauranga Hospital with acute stroke. This is service operates within Monday to Friday hours with after-hours care provided by acute medicine following organisational stroke pathway.
The Acute stroke team provide acute inpatient patient care with patients transitioning to rehabilitation service when clinically indicated. The service also provides outpatient specialist services for referrals from primary care with high risk or TIA presentations.
One of our Senior medical staff will be away for approximately 6 months from early May, so we are recruiting for a fixed term Senior Medical Officer to join the service

If you have a specialist interest and experience in acute stroke medicine this role will be of interest to you.
Your background may include qualifications and experience in neurology, geriatric medicine or general medicine however the primary purpose of this role is to support the delivery of acute stroke care.
There is the potential for this role to work alongside other responsibilities (working 3 – 4 days per week rather than full time).
