Te Whatu Ora Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty has an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist or Medical Officer with an interest in addiction medicine.  This role will join the multidisciplinary specialist Addiction Service based in Tauranga.  

The main focus of this role is to provide Opioid Substitution Treatment (OST) for patients across the district in accordance with the New Zealand OST guidelines. The appointee will work with senior psychiatrists and mental health and addiction services registrar colleagues and have close liaison with general practitioners and pharmacists. 

This is a permanent, full-time position working 80 hours per fortnight however part-time hours can be considered for the right candidate

He korero mōu - About You

Criteria for this position:

  • You need to be a Vocationally Registered Psychiatrist with the Medical Council of NZ or be eligible for this.
  • Have fellowship with the RANZCP or the equivalent is essential.
  • Previous experience working in addiction medicine, this would be an advantage but is not essential as there are experienced clinicians who will support the new appointee.
  • A desire to work collaboratively to improve the outcomes for our community, while supporting and educating others to do so too.
