If you are ready for a different challenge, are excited about delivering rehabilitation in the community setting, and, you are committed to patient and whānau-centred care then apply for this role today!
We are looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist to be part of our exciting allied health Interim Care Service (ICS) at Health New Zealand Waitematā. This is a senior role, working alongside the charge nurse manager and other senior clinicians in the inter-disciplinary team, providing clinical leadership, and supporting service development and innovation in practise in a service that will continue to grow and expand over time.
The Interim Care Service is primarily for patients who have presented with acute injuries or conditions (often with injuries that require a period of non-weight bearing) that require temporary admission to an ARC (Aged Residential Care) facility for a period of recovery and rehabilitation before then being discharged home. This model of care enables patients to avoid an inpatient rehabilitation stay, supporting them to return to the community as soon as possible as well as supporting wider hospital access and flow.
As a senior you will work closely with the team to provide quality assessment, rehabilitation and discharge planning. Rehabilitation can be provided in a mixed model approach, varying from in-person sessions at ARCs or in patient’s homes, group work, providing therapy programmes or working with patients and their family / whānau via telehealth (video or phone). The ARC facilities are all located within our Health New Zealand Waitematā district.
Our documentation and clinical systems are all fully electronic, technology such as a laptop and smart-phone are provided to support and promote efficient and mobile working.
You must be a New Zealand registered Occupational Therapist and possess at least 5 years post graduate experience working within an acute and/or rehabilitation/community setting. The successful candidate will have proven leadership experience including support of junior staff and students, as well as service development and/ or quality improvement experience. You must have excellent communication, prioritisation and time management skills and show commitment to working as part of a cohesive interdisciplinary team. It is essential that you have an understanding of basic and complex equipment provision requirements including wheelchair and seating. WMPL1 accreditation is preferred.
We have a lot to offer you:
- Support from other skilled senior staff, rehabilitation advanced clinicians and clinical coaches
- In-house career development with regular in-services, training and education opportunities
- Regular monthly supervision
- Access to our free Employee Assistance Programme
- Reimbursement of your APC annually
- Free 24/7 staff gym
- Discounts at some great companies via our Waitematā Work Perks network
If this ticks all the boxes, we invite you to apply now!
