Te Whatu Ora Waitemata serves the communities of North and West Auckland and the Rodney District, a population of over 600,000 people. Dedicated to the delivery of public health care, Waitemata is committed to “the "best care for everyone” - to the patient, their family/Whanau, the community and Iwi, and the healthcare workforce.
Waiatarau is a mental health inpatient unit located on the grounds of Waitakere Hospital. The unit as a whole comprises 8 intensive care beds and 24 open ward beds.
Mental Health inpatient units are essentially national resources, but all efforts are made to ensure clients from the West Auckland area that need our services are accommodated at Waiatarau.
We are seeking an experienced Social Worker to work alongside service users and families to develop awareness and knowledge of mental illness and to provide advice and support in regard to social and legal issues.
You should have a sound clinical, assessment and report writing skills and the ability to effectively liaise with a variety of agencies to progress the recovery journey of clients. You should have a commitment to personal and professional development.
We are looking for a flexible, enthusiastic and motivated individual who has a demonstrated commitment to the ongoing improvement of service delivery in order to meet the needs of service users and their families.
Required
- Tertiary qualification in social work
- 2 yrs. experience of working in a Mental Health setting
- Ability to respect other people's values and culture.
- A high level of oral and written communication
- Full Drivers license
- Professional Registration
