Psychologist -Permanent, Part time (0.5FTE/ 20hrs per week)

Based at North Shore Hospital

We’re looking for a Psychologist with a passion for helping people manage the everyday challenges associated with chronic ill health.  As a Psychologist working within a medical environment, you will be expected to help patients achieve their health and wellbeing goals through effective engagement, promotion of health behaviors, and treatment of psychological problems.  
 
You will also be expected to provide consultation to the wider clinical team on how to incorporate psychological principles into patient care to enhance clinical outcomes. 
 
Working primarily in the diabetes service, and reporting to the Operations Manager and Clinical Director, you will be expected to work in close partnership with a multidisciplinary team of doctors, clinical nurse specialists, dietitians, and podiatrists.

Key aspects of this post include service development, the implementation of screening and associated care pathways and the provision of psychological assessments and interventions. In addition this post will involve co-working, and training colleagues from other professions to understand and change health-related behaviour.  
 
This position requires a highly motivated, independent practitioner with lots of energy, an outstanding communicator with the ability to build rapport quickly with any individual or group and be effective working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. You will have the opportunity to be involved in, and in some cases lead on,  audits and other service development initiatives. In addition you may also be expected to provide supervision for Psychology students/interns.
