Senior Occupational Therapist - Mental Health Services for Older Adults

Mental Health Services for Older Adults (MHSOA) provides a range of services to people over the age of 65 years who are experiencing mental health difficulties and/or cognitive change.
Our MHSOA West community team has a full time position available for an experienced and passionate Senior Occupational Therapist. This position is 1 FTE/80 hours a fortnight. This is a dedicated senior position which would sit alongside your clinical hours in the MHSOA West team.
This position would suit an occupational therapist who is able to provide specialist occupational therapy assessment and interventions aimed at enhancing the wellbeing of service users, and who has the experience and skills to work with older people, often with complex needs.
You will be a New Zealand registered Occupational Therapist and possess at least 5 years of experience as an occupational therapist and minimum of 2 years working in mental health. You will be able to demonstrate leadership skills, strengths in organisation and communication, and be motivated and passionate about quality improvement.
You will support the occupational therapists across the MHSOA services to provide excellence and consistent professional and clinical practice in conjunction with being a leader of change for improving service delivery to Waitematā service users.
You will have excellent communication skills and confidence working within a multi-disciplinary team using an interdisciplinary model to deliver high quality, effective services for our population.
In addition, this role will support the infrastructure and service development of the occupational therapy group within Mental Health Services of Older Adults by providing expertise in the following areas:
- Clinical supervision and input into the PDR process for OT staff
- Project or service improvement activity - e.g. Exploring innovative service delivery
- Training and education
- Mentorship of new graduates
- Professional development activity, e.g. development of best practice guidelines and models
