Waitemata Health is one of the larger Health providers in Auckland NZ.We serve a district population of 630,000+ people in the North and West of Auckland city as well as regional and national services. Based in Auckland city, the organisation provides a range of hospital and community services.
The health provider works from 5 inpatient settings [in two main hospitals] offering Acute and Emergency Medicine, Speciality Medicine and Health of Older People, Surgical & Ambulatory, Child Health, Specialty Mental Health and Addiction services. There are over 30 community-based settings.
We work with 5 education providers in the Auckland city as well as other universities nationally to support undergraduate and post graduate education opportunities.
Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
The health services provide services in association with the other hospitals in the city for specialist services e.g. burns centre, neurosurgery, cardiovascular, transplant care. There are 1050 beds across the 5 inpatient sites.
There are two Emergency Departments ED [North Shore and Waitakere] and three acute assessment units requiring good multidisciplinary coordination requiring comprehensive knowledge base, develop a range of skills and experience to effectively respond to the full spectrum of illness and injury presenting to the department
Intensive Care Unit, High Dependency Unit (ICU) at North Shore Hospital for patients who are haemodynamic instability, acute respiratory distress/failure or cardiac conditions that require close monitoring
Cardiology including CCU and cardiovascular procedures
18 Operating Rooms [OR]and post anaesthesia care [PACU] across three sites for acute and planned care. Operates 24/7. Offers Day of Surgery procedures
Endoscopy/gastroenterology procedures, including coordination of the national bowel screening programme
Radiology and Interventional Radiology procedures
Haemodialysis centres – three sites across the district
Inpatient and community Child Health services: ED, 2 Sick Care Baby Unit SCBU, paediatric ward, Child Disability Rehabilitation and Respite, School based care, regional dental health
Womens Health including gynaecology and Maternity Services supporting women and family through antenatal care, birthing and post-natal care
Inpatient and community-based Specialist Mental Health, Community Alcohol and Addiction Services and Regional Forensic Psychiatric Services
