Retinal Screening Service Lead, Ophthalmology

The Retinal Screening Service at Counties Manukau District has a leadership position available for a Service Lead. This position is full time Monday- Friday, based at Lambie Drive. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking for a leadership position.
In this role the Retinal Screening Service Lead will ensure the provision of a high quality systematic screening and grading service to ensure the early detection of sight-threatening diabetic retinopathy and the reduction of blindness. The Retinal Screening Service Lead will be responsible for secondary grading, managing clinical quality in association with the Ophthalmologist and when required will conduct retinal screening. In this senior role, this position will oversee the Screening Team whilst supporting the activities of the Service to ensure that quality standards are adhered to and other targets are met. Working in partnership with the Ophthalmology Head of Department and Service Manager, this role will be responsible for improving the retinal screening coverage rate and growing the reach of the service within our ethnically diverse community to promote “early detection and treatment” of eye diseases.
The ideal candidate will need to have;
- Ability to demonstrate leading high performing teams and change
- Clinical qualification and experience
- An in-depth understanding of Retinal Screening
- Insight into diabetes
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in digital photography
- Full drivers licence
