Adolescent Health Fellow (Fixed Term), Te Whatu Ora Counties Manukau Kidz First Community

Applicants are invited to apply for the position of Adolescent Health Fellow for the 2024 training year.

This position is based at Kidz First Centre for Youth Health, with clinics across the Auckland Region. The Fellow will also be rostered (RMO roster) one weekend in six, and Public Holidays as rostered, to cover acute medical care 0800 to 2230/0800 to 1630 in Kidz First Inpatients and Emergency Care.

This is a fixed term (12 months) clinical training position in Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine commencing in February 2024. The Fellow will provide clinical services to Centre for Youth Health (which may include Specialist Adolescent Clinic, Alternative Education Clinic, Transgender Clinics and other clinical work deemed appropriate by the supervising physicians). The Fellow will have the opportunity to work alongside the Centre for Youth Health team in the provision of clinical advisory services to community based health services and agencies.

The position offers the opportunity to undertake further formal training in adolescent medicine. This may include (but is not limited to) family planning/ sexual health training courses, Youth Health papers at the University of Auckland and/or Foundations of Public Health paper or other relevant Masters in Public Health papers at the School of Population Health, University of Auckland. Individualised educational objectives will be set in consultation with the Fellow at the beginning of the appointment.

There is scope to match the successful applicant’s training needs and areas of interest.

It is expected that the trainee will participate in the Centre for Youth Health professional development programme, and contribute to the training of other clinical staff, other agencies and communities as appropriate. There may be an undergraduate teaching component to medical students.

The position is open to Advanced Trainees of the RACP who are registered with the SAC in AYAM or other appropriate FRACP training programme.

This is a full time (1 FTE) position but part-time (minimum of 0.6 FTE) options can be considered.

A shortlist of successful applicants will be invited to an interview. Applicants residing outside of the greater Auckland area will be interviewed by teleconference/videoconference.
