Community Health Support Worker, Kidz First Child Development Team

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Kidz First Child Development Team (CDT) as a Community Health Support worker. Make a real difference- work in our community to support tamariki of all cultures including Maaori and Pacifica and their whaanau through their health journey.
Kidz First Child Development is situated in South Auckland and is a dynamic and flexible work place. Its team members work alongside children with neurological and developmental needs and their whaanau supporting the child to reach their full potential. In this role you will work closely with whaanau to support them at the beginning of their child’s health journey, linking them in with support services, addressing any immediate needs whilst they wait for therapy, and support our therapist in the care provision.
You will be working within a wider multi-disciplinary team and therefore it is essential to understand your own communication style in order to build rapport with other professionals.
The service involves predominantly home visits with some work in clinic settings, tele- health and opportunities for groups.
Enthusiasm and passion for early intervention drives our team members to walk alongside families through their journey. Every day is different and you therefore need to have the ability to adapt to the varying needs of the service and the diverse community we work with. Our team support a high Maaori and Pacifica population and would welcome applicants from these communities.
An ability to effectively organise your workload, whilst prioritising tasks, would be imperative in order to be successful in this role.
Skills and Experience:
- Passion to work with children from Maaori/ Pacific background, with neurological and developmental needs
- Experience working within a health setting
- Experience working within a multi-disciplinary setting and as part of a team
- Pacific language or Te Reo Māori is an advantage
- Sound judgement, the ability to manage risk and make decisions based on service needs
