2023 Training Year Emergency Medicine Registrars

Why train as an Emergency Medicine registrar:

  • High quality teaching with dedicated teaching time and high exam pass rates
    • Departmental Continuing Medical Education (2 hours/week) and Part 1, Intermediate, and Part 2 ACEM exam preparation streams (2 hours/week) as protected off-floor teaching
    • Frequent on-floor teaching and feedback
    • Great pastoral care, including continuing employment meetings with the chairs of the vocational training programme, departmental DEMT contact, and formal mentor programme
  • Variation in practice across a large number of clinicians, hospitals, and departments in a range of urban centres
    • Rotations in ICU, Anaesthesia, CED, General Paediatrics, and New Zealand’s only Paediatric ICU
    • Complete your full ACEM training in Tāmaki Auckland

Eligibility and how to apply:

  • Preferred experience: 3 months’ Emergency Medicine or CED time
  • Eligibility for general scope registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
  • We strongly recommend that you apply as early as possible during the application period as interviews for this specialty are highly competitive.
