Clinical Physiologist (Sleep), Starship Children's Health

We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Physiologist in Sleep who meets the registration requirements set out by the Clinical Physiologists Registration Board (CPRB) to work in our Starship Respiratory and Sleep Service!

This is a fast-developing field of healthcare and a unique opportunity to be involved in New Zealand Paediatric Sleep Medicine. We have permanent full-time positions with rostered day, evening and night shift work.

The Respiratory Department have a combined lab with Sleep and Respiratory Physiology. We provide services which include but are not limited to, the assessment and monitoring of sleep disorders via in-lab sleep studies level 1-4, the initiation and education of non-invasive respiratory therapies (CPAP/BPAP/NHF), overnight outpatient oximetry and scoring of sleep studies. In addition, we facilitate humidification treatment for tracheostomy patients on the wards. It is expected that this role includes liaising with other local and national health and professional groups in order to plan the best management options for patient care.

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills

Given the importance of this role, you will have:

· A scientific, technical or medical background is essential.

· Ideally you will hold a BSc or higher in Physiology or equivalent.

· Relevant work experience is desirable however training will be provided.

· A desire to work towards CPRB registration in Sleep without conditions (support for the Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Technology (PGDipMedTech) and/or NZ Sleep Competency Exam can be given for the right candidate).

The Starship Respiratory Physiology Laboratory is a combined Respiratory and Sleep physiology laboratory supporting a tertiary paediatric respiratory service with considerable national activity. In consequence, referred patients tend to have complex and severe chronic respiratory / sleep disorders necessitating highly specialized and broad needs for assessment and management.
