New Zealand Blood and Organ Service (NZBS) is dedicated to saving lives. Every year, tens of thousands of generous people donate their time, blood and plasma to us free. In addition to our vein-to-vein service in transfusion, we also provide national services in organ transplantation, cellular therapies and tissue banking. About the role

The National Reference Laboratory is based in Epsom and has a strong team-based structure, performing a variety of pre-transfusion testing.

 The role involves:

• Investigating antibody problems and provision of cross-matched blood
• Resolving ABO and Rh(D) typing problems
• Monitoring levels (by titration) of antibodies found during routine antenatal screening
• Ensuring that all activities are carried out in a manner that complies with national defined quality standards, accreditation licensing and legislative requirements
• Solving complex and difficult red cell antigen/antibody problems with the use of red cell genotyping and a unique collection of rare typing sera and rare red cells.

The role will require you to participate when competent, in a 24/7 out of hours on call service equally divided amongst the Reference team.

Your base salary will be between $ 74,842 and $ 101,741 depending on skills, experience and registration.
