Community Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist Wheelchair and Seating Assessor

ABI Community Services has a contracting/casual opportunity for an Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist with experience in the provision of specialised wheelchair and seating (accreditation equivalent to WMPM L2).
ABI is a leader in the field of brain injury rehabilitation in NZ, and an ACC accredited provider of community-based rehabilitation, assessment and equipment provision for people with a range of conditions. We have a strong client-centered and family/ whānau focus.
Key tasks include community-based assessment and provision of wheelchair and seating equipment to support clients with complex needs, along with holistic assessment of functional/rehabilitation needs.
Types of equipment assessed for include:
- Assessing and scripting of simple and complex manual and power chairs, cushions, buggies, specialized car seats, and mobility scooters (accreditation equivalent to WMPM L2 essential)
- Lying and positioning assessment and scripting of sleep systems (preferred but not essential)
- Custom fabrication of postural support and seating (preferred but not essential)
In addition to wheelchair and seating equipment, the provision of standard and complex equipment is also required. This includes, toileting/showering equipment, beds and mattresses, sleep and positioning equipment, and hoists and slings.
There is also the opportunity to provide occupational therapy services for community-based paediatric and adult clients.
Our clinicians work in the community setting across the Auckland region, and are supported by a collaborative, friendly, inter-disciplinary team environment.
The successful applicant will have:
- a Bachelor of Health Science i.e. Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy (or equivalent),
- a current NZ annual practicing certificate,
- level 1 and 2 seating qualifications, and
- a full, clean driver's license
A minimum of three years' experience, with previous work in a community setting is preferred
