Rural Clinical Nurse Specialist - Stewart Island

About the role
This position is based at the remote rural location of Stewart Island. The Rural Clinical Nurse Specialist is required to provide PRIME, unplanned urgent care, and district nursing.
Rostered shift work entails an eight-hour day, and 24/7 on-call PRIME response located on the island for the rostered period.
In this role, you will:
- provide expert nursing knowledge in the management of patient/consumer care within a defined area of specialty practice, working with the patient, family/whānau, or other health professionals to provide timely nursing care to optimise outcomes
- work across the organisation within a clinical specialty acting in the roles of practitioner, educator, consultant, researcher, leader/change agent, and care coordinator/case manager
- act as a mentor, guide, and support others in the specialty in their assessment, clinical decision-making, implementation, evaluation, and documentation of care
- effectively communicate with patient/consumer and family/whānau and members of the Healthcare team.

About you
In addition to your nursing qualifications, you will also have postgraduate qualifications, at a minimum a diploma, but preferably a master's degree.
We are looking for an experienced Registered Nurse who can work independently and in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team to assess, treat and manage patient/consumer health care needs.
Our ideal candidate will:
- have at least three years' experience as a Registered Nurse
- be registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand as a Registered Nurse and hold a valid APC
- hold a full New Zealand driver's licence with a clean driving record
- possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
- have intermediate/advanced computer skills.
