About the Role
We're looking for an experienced and motivated HR Practitioner to join our team as an HR Business Partner on a fixed-term contract for 6-months, where you will play a key role in delivering high-quality People & Culture support across the business.
Reporting to the Director of HR Operations you will partner with specific services as a trusted advisor to provide end-to-end HR advice and services – supporting everything from day-to-day operational matters to the delivery of strategic initiatives.

You will be part of a supportive and collaborative People & Culture team, where partnership is at the heart of how we work. In this role, you will work closely with managers and employees to understand their HR needs, provide practical guidance and help them navigate both everyday matters and bigger strategic initiatives.

About you
You are a people-focused HR professional who enjoys building strong relationships, working collaboratively, and finding practical solutions that make a real difference. With a solid foundation in Employment Relations, you are confident navigating a busy workload and contributing to meaningful outcomes. You enjoy variety in your day, you're comfortable working with change, and you're always keen to learn and grow.
Here's what you'll bring to the role:
- A sound knowledge of New Zealand employment and health & safety legislation.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence and build trust at all levels.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and sound judgement—you're confident making decisions, staying organised, meeting deadlines, and using initiative in a changing environment.
- A natural curiosity and willingness to learn about the organisation, the people who use New Zealand's health services, and the communities we serve.
- Confidence using the Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- A strong team player mindset, along with the ability to work independently when needed.
- Leadership and management – The ability to think and act strategically, inspire others, and build engaged, high-performing teams through inclusive leadership.
- Communication and relationship effectiveness – Confident and clear communication skills, with the ability to influence, present persuasively, and build lasting relationships that support sustainable outcomes.
- Planning and direction – Strong oversight of your responsibilities, with the ability to contribute to strategies, plan and prioritise work, and deliver results across both short- and long-term objectives.
- Operational management – The ability to monitor and improve performance, make well-informed decisions, and keep things running smoothly and effectively.
- A focus on continuous improvement – You're open to new ideas, encourage constructive conversations, and stay connected to current best practice in HR and people leadership.
- Comfort with ambiguity and change – You remain calm and flexible in uncertain environments, helping others to do the same.
- A strong understanding of compliance and risk management, including New Zealand legal and regulatory requirements—ensuring we meet our obligations and operate safely and ethically.
