Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.
About the Role
Whangārei Hospital has 8 operating theatres, and a procedure room co-located in the operating theatre suite, as well as a 2-room endoscopy suite. It provides the majority of the surgical services for Northland, including a wide range of surgical sub-specialties and all emergency surgery for the region. The case-mix is varied and challenging, with a high volume of complex planned surgery as well as a busy trauma service.
Peri-operative Services in Northland provide a 24/7 service to Whangārei Hospital as well as the elective surgery delivered at Kaitaia Hospital. You will be directly leading a team of approximately 30 Specialist Anaesthetists, together with Anaesthetic SHOs and Registrars who rotate from the Auckland region as part of their training. As well as the anaesthesia team, this role gives clinical oversight and leadership to the wider peri-operative teams.
We are looking for a motivated, experienced Clinical Director to provide effective and high-quality leadership to our peri-operative services. The role involves both clinical time and clinical director responsibilities. Clinical Director positions are appointed for two-year tenures at a time.
