About the Role
Child Development Services (CDS) are non-medical, multidisciplinary allied health, and community-based, and work with pēpi and tamariki aged 0-16. The service promotes and facilitates each child's developmental pathway so that their maximal potential is attained throughout their development and growth. This role is permanent part-time 0.5FTE.
The role of the SLT in CDS is to:
- provide appropriate therapy to facilitate and enhance the development of swallowing and feeding skills and speech language and communication for pēpi and tamariki with developmental disabilities.
- provide specialised developmental assessments for pēpi and tamariki who may have social, communication, and intellectual difficulties.
- works closely in partnership with whānau, members of the multidisciplinary team (MDT) and external agencies to provide collaborative, evidence-based care

Our team is small multidisciplinary team who are committed to a whanau centred approach to caring for pēpi an tamariki in our rohe.
Whanganui's reputation for having some of the best value-for-money housing in New Zealand is another big-plus for many people settling in the city. About you
- You must be a qualified Speech Language Therapist with Membership of NZSTA and have a current practising certificate.
- SLT experience in Child Development is desirable but not essential as support from the SLT professional lead is available to support learning.
- You must be willing to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and demonstrate behaviours consistent with the values of Health NZ Whanganui.
