About the Role
We have a fabulous opportunity for compassionate, community-focused people to join our Hawke’s Bay Hospital volunteer “meet & greet” team.
Patients and visitors can find coming to hospital intimidating and may have questions, difficulties finding out where to go or how to get mobility support. Friendly volunteers are sought to be a friendly face, available to provide information or point people in the right direction when required.
Expressions of interest are sought from people of all ages and cultural backgrounds. If you are interested in a career in health or have an interest in supporting the health sector, then volunteering is a good way to be involved.

About you
To be a volunteer you will need to:
- Have a welcoming and friendly demeanour, a customer service background would be helpful but not essential. Care about the patient's journey and be willing to be supportive of anyone attending the hospital.
- Be accepting of all people and cultures. An awareness or understanding of Tikanga Maori or Te Reo would be particularly welcome.
- Available for at least one shift each week (Monday-Friday) 10am – 2pm. We are looking for people who can make a regular commitment for the next 12 months.
- Be available to attend a selection interview and meet the requirements of any necessary police vetting.
- Be capable of participating in compulsory organisational, cultural or Health & Safety mandatory training for volunteers.

As a volunteer, you will:
- Work alongside other like-minded community volunteers and health workers who are committed to our community;
- Be provided with a uniform shirt, to be worn while on shift;
- Receive free parking for the duration of your shift;
- Be provided with on-going training and support in your volunteer role;
- Have access to staff discount schemes when they are available.
