- Permanent, Part-time or Full-time hours available
- Why work anywhere else!
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.
About the Role
You will be working as the second Consultant Psychiatrist in a community old age psychiatry service. The service also currently has a full-time registrar.
Most people are seen in their own homes, though can be seen as outpatients. You will work closely with the geriatricians and wider older person’s health services. The team does not have inpatient beds, so people requiring admission are admitted into the Adult Mental Health ward or Assessment, Treatment and Rehabilitation ward, depending on their needs.
You will mostly be treating people with dementia and associated psychiatric or behavioural problems, and people with late (over the age of 65) onset mental illness. People under the age of 65 with dementia are often managed by the team, as are some older people with long-term mental illnesses.
The Mental Health Service has a robust Peer Review Group and you will have access to CPD activities to meet ongoing registration requirements.
