Paediatric Fellow - Tauranga 2026 Training Year

About the Role
As a Paediatric Fellow – Advanced Trainee, you will work closely with a dedicated team of paediatricians and neonatal specialists in both outpatient and inpatient settings. This role is ideal for those approaching the end of their paediatric training and seeking to broaden their expertise. You will join the senior roster, providing on-call support while supervising junior staff and leading clinical sessions. The role offers the perfect balance of responsibility and consultant support, with time allocated for your advanced training project and professional development.
About the Team/Service
The team at Tauranga Hospital includes 15 paediatricians and neonatal specialists, providing high-quality care in both general paediatrics and neonatal services. The unit is a training centre for the University of Auckland's Paediatric Program, and we have a strong focus on both teaching and developing the skills of our trainees.
About you
As a Paediatric Fellow – Advanced Trainee, you will be an experienced and motivated individual, ready to take on the challenges of advanced paediatric training. You will have a strong background in paediatrics and neonatal care, ideally with previous experience in these fields. You should be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, with a commitment to patient care and a passion for teaching. Excellent communication and leadership skills are key, as you will be responsible for supervising junior doctors and working closely with senior clinicians. Additionally, a proactive attitude toward your professional development is essential, as you will be encouraged to further your expertise through the available training time.
