Business Manager - Office of the Chief Clinical Officer

About the Role
The Clinical Leadership team are in search of a Business Manager to step into this permanent full-time position. Working closely with the Head of the Office to support the Chief Clinical Officer and National Clinical Chiefs, you would be responsible for a wide range of work in support of the Office's work programme, both strategic and operational. This role will take accountability for monitoring the clinical leadership team's progress against its work programme, lead key pieces of work for the office, be hands on in ensuring progress, and be a key point for problem solving to resolve day to day issues. The position will undertake a wide range of work including drafting key documentation (reports, ELT and governance level papers, presentations, ministerial correspondence) and leading projects as required. The role will also take a role in mentoring more junior members of the team and deputise for the Head of the Office as required.

About you
As a Business Manager, our ideal candidate will be confident working in a fast-paced environment and getting ‘stuck in' with a range of work. You will be experienced in leading projects, have a strong eye for detail and quality, the ability to quickly understand new information, manage a broad range of work, write for a broad range of audiences, prioritise well and keep key players informed. You will be a natural problem solver, have good political nous and understand the healthcare ecosystem. Due to the wide-ranging nature of the work in this role, a varied background is welcome. Experience of the machinery of government is helpful but not essential.
- Excellent writing skills including significant experience writing for a senior audience.
- Significant experience in a similar role providing advice and support to a senior/executive level team and leading pieces of work on their behalf.
- Experience in applying critical thinking and using sound judgement to develop options and provide advice, particularly in leading complex or contentious work.
- Experience in the development and presentation of well-articulated, unambiguous, and robust advice, papers, and reports.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions in ambiguous situations.
- A proven ability to use data and insights to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, to influence and guide organisational and system-level decision making.
- A relevant tertiary qualification, or equivalent experience (e.g. Law, Humanities or Business).
- Significant experience in health is preferred but not essential.
- Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.
- Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.
