About the Role
We have a fixed-term, part-time opportunity available to join our Prevention team as a Colposcopist.
The primary purpose of the role is to support the clinical case review and the further improvements to the cervical screening programme in relation to the delivery of colposcopy services. This includes the provision of expert advice on national clinical policies and procedures, national monitoring, and quality assurance and improvement for the screening programme.
The Colposcopist will work closely and collaboratively with the Clinical Lead – Colposcopy/ Gynaecology, the Clinical Lead – Pathology, the Public Health Medicine Specialist Cervical Screening and the National Cervical Screening Programme (NCSP) Manager to deliver the Clinical Case Review, ensuring the continuous improvement and delivery of a high quality and safe national cervical screening programme.
This fixed-term role runs until May 2027.

About you
You are a registered clinical professional with experience in gynaecology and are readily able to translate your knowledge and expertise into high quality and safe clinical advice for others. You have strong systems thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to effectively drive change and influence across the sector. You will also have proven experience working for and alongside priority populations. This role requires collaboration and strong relationships to work in partnership with the programme's te Tiriti partners, clinical experts, Pacific health partners, and those delivering cervical screening services.
- A relevant graduate and post-graduate qualification
- Appropriate Vocational Registration
- Gynaecologist / Colposcopist (FRANZCOG)
- OR Advanced Trainee in RANZCOG programme, who has completed Colposcopy In Hospital Clinical Assessment
- OR An experienced Nurse Colposcopist will also be considered. Must meet requirements of C-QuIP as administered by RANZCOG and NCNZ competencies for expanded practice
- Team player with ability to work with a wide range of people within and outside Health New Zealand
- Excellent communication skills and collaborative ability
- Able to establish and maintain positive working relationships with people at all levels within the public and private sectors, related industry and community interest groups
- With the support of Health NZ, you will proactively take care of your own health and safety, to ensure a safe and supportive work environment
