Director Prevention - Immunisation - NPHS

About the Role
We have an opportunity for a senior leader to join our National Public Health service leadership team as Director Prevention – Immunisation. This pivotal role will lead the National Immunisation Programme, including the Childhood Immunisation Health Target work programme. Immunisation services include all national adult and childhood immunisation services.
The Director Prevention – Immunisation, working in partnership with the Clinical Lead Immunisation, will provide strategic and operational leadership to create and be accountable for an equitable immunisation system. Develop strategies to improve immunisation rates, long term plans, and initiatives that impact on both demand and supply. You will also lead the planning and delivery of the Immunisation National Health Target. This role requires you to work as a Team of Teams, both as part of the NPHS Leadership Team and in partnership with the General Manager, Public and Population Health, Hauora Māori Services.

The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.
About you
The successful candidate is an experienced leader with extensive knowledge of NZ public health care. Has experience leading and managing within an organisation where a high level of organisational acumen and political nous was required. You have proven experience in creating and delivering a strategic plan with a multi-layered operating model and have a proven track record of implementing large scale delivery in health.
- At least ten years' experience in health care
- A relevant graduate and post-graduate qualification
- Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action
- At least ten years' experience working in the health system or other related field or significant and proven experience in similar roles the health or related NGO sector
- Proven experience successfully leading large diverse teams through change and achieving improved results while navigating a highly nuanced and complex system
- Experience in leading and managing within an organisation where a high level of organisational acumen and political nous was required to create and deliver a strategic plan together with a multi-layered operating model
