24 Month Basic Accreditation with Royal Australasian College of Physicians
We are seeking Medical Senior House Officers for our accredited basic physician training to make a quota of 2 Medical SHO's with one attached to cardiology and one to respiratory, 10 Medical Registrars and Consultants with special interest in cardiology, neurology, diabetes, respiratory medicine, nephrology and oncology.
WhangareiHospital is a 245 beds offering a full range of secondary care to the population of Northland (155,000) located 2 hours north of Auckland. Due to the population make up and the unselected nature of our admissions, registrars gain experience managing a wide variety of conditions including rare conditions such as rheumatic fever, tuberculosis and meningococcal disease.
The successful applicants must be enrolled with RACP as a basic trainee and commit to a minimum of 12 months as a Medical Registrar following this 6 month transitional run. We provide close supervision for trainees in acute and outpatient settings, aligned with a commitment to teaching. There is an active clinical training programme with didactic sessions, interactive based teaching, journal club and videoconferencing of RACP lectures.
